Critical incident is a method of accessing an individual on his behavior. In this method the individual is accessed how he/she behave in a particular situation of the past. May be a student can be access how he behaves before entering the exam hall. Is the student more tensed or cool headed or studying seriously or talking with friends or revising or may be teasing others who or studying or much more. If some one tries to access me they may be confused on looking at me typing seriously in my lap. Ya i am positing this post. i have only half an hour for my exam!!! i don't know anything. Climbing the top

How to reach the top position in a company?
It is everyone's wish to reach the top. No one is exceptional. Even we both thought the same. Myself and my friend want to reach the top, not the top of the company but top of the mountain we went last christmas. Reaching top of a mountain is not an easy task. We were not professional climbers. And more over if we fell down no one was around us to take us hospital. We moved 8 kms down the forest. But still we were eager to move the top. When we looked the top of the mountain we thought its impossible to reach the top. Then we moved away from the mountain but still we both had the same thought running in our mind, ie) to reach the top of the mountain. So we looked back from a distance and it appeared small. So we went back again and searched for the way to climb the top. We tried our best and reached the top. It was beautiful when we were in the top. Like wise when we need to achieve the top position in an organization, what can we do? Dont worry i will give you easy tips for it. Very simple!!! It is easy to move up in a big organization than in a smaller organization. Do you know why??? Because big organization will have lift, but smaller organization dont have this facility. so, its easy in case of big organization. But the sad thing is there is a lot of possibility for the career plateau to take place. Since the lift wont go to the top of the company. So don't forget to get down from the lift and move up through steps. So that you wont be affected by career plateau. Why are you still waiting?? Climb up!!!

New life

As usual i am trying to give life to my blog. But this time i am no longer going to lose. I have the faith in me and i trust me. I will give life to my blog and this continues forever. My blog is no longer will be an useless one. Each and every post here after will be useful to everyone those who read even if they dont understand. While I was thinking what new can i add in this blog i got an idea of adding the stuffs which i study. It will be useful for everyone except me. I hate reading, but i love writing. It may be unethical to expect you to read this post which myself wont read it again. But all the authors who write the books wont read those books again. All the readers are not good writers and all the writers are not good readers of their book. This is just like our own name. We wont use our name often. But others around us uses it very often. But while we meet a person at first we introduce ourselves by our name. Thats the only time we use our name. Similarly while writing the book or an article or a post we read it, and will never read again but is read by others.

Since i was busy with my project for the past 3 months, i couldn't talk with my blog. Now i think i am free to talk with my blog. Even in my absence my blog got the rank of 2 out of 10. In the morning post i have told that the first mark is 1186 but not sure as i couldn't confirm it with my friend. As i expected it was not exactly correct as the first mark is 1187. It was secured by a boy from thoothukudi district. One of my best friend informed me just now about the exact marks scored by the brains.

By this time almost everyone would have checked the 12th results. Hope everyone should be happy with their marks. Now you would be calculating the cutoff marks. Some may not be clear how to calculate the cutoff. It is important to calculate the cutoff marks as admissions to engineering field and medical field are based on the cutoff. Admissions are based on the cutoff marks. Once applied to the university the students will be called for the counseling and the candidate can choose the college according to the seats available.
To calculate cutoff:
Engineering cutoff = (Physics/4 ) + (chemistry/4) + (Maths/2)
Medical cutoff = (Physics/4 ) + (chemistry/4) + (Biology/2)

Today its going to be a great day for many of the students. Many are eagerly waiting for the 12th results which is expected to be released by today (14th may 2010) at 9.30am. Tamilnadu state board results can be get in any of the following websites:

Advance wishes for all the students and wishing you all the best. Let the results bring happiness and joy to you and your family. I am not sure whether this is right or not but i got this information by my friend through message early morning that the first mark is 1186. I called him back to confirm it but he didn't picked up the call. So i cant tell it with confident. Still 2hours more for the results. Lets wait and see.

I wonder how birds fly!!!!!!

Is it only with the wings they have?

If so how?

The birds swings its wings up and down, it it pushes the air then it can only move up. But they are move both up as well as moving forward. How is it possible by moving the wings up and down and moving forwand the body?

Few days back i was on travel from tirunelveli to my native, nagercoil. When i was in the bus i was enjoying the beauty of nature. At that time a group of birds were flying. They were flying in the speed of the bus. How does this can happen? I agree that the wings helps them flying. But is it that the wings alone is responsible for the bird to fly? I want to find how birds fly and i will fly like a bird.

I need 5 more posts urgently to get my blog approved in a particular website so i am writing this post. I don't know what to write. I just started writing as i usually write in the exam. In my exam if i don't know any answer for the question (usually i don't know the answer so this happens frequently), I will never sit and think for the answer. There is nothing to think and write because if the answer is studied and i forget i can think for the answer. But i would not have studied so there is no need to think. To tackle this situation i will start wring the question number so i cant escape from writing the answer even if i don't know. I will start writing something related to the answer. I will think myself those i write is relevant to the answer. See now also i did the same. I didn't know what to write. I didn't think even for a minute. But wrote these much lines. It happens. Genius are nor born. They are made. Very good example is me. Don't laugh. I have first kept the title of this post as "Need for post" and i have scribbled something. But now i am changing the title as how to tackle the exam.

The basis of TQM is to reduce the errors produced during the manufacturing or service process, increase customer satisfaction, streamline supply chain management, aim for modernization of equipment and ensure workers have the highest level of training. In any
product or service the quality is more important. TQM is a set of management practices
throughout the organization, geared to ensure the organization consistently meets or exceeds
customer requirements. Quality plays a major role in automobile industry as it deals with the
life. Nowadays customers are ready to afford any amount of money to get the best quality
products and services. So Automobile workshop is keener to provide the best quality to the customers.

The management principles of 5S should be followed:

Sort/ Segregate: Dump the waste such as the damaged accessories, tubes & Tyres, etc in
a place near the shed and will be thrown out once in a week.
Simplify / Straighten: The tools and equipments are placed in racks in an organised manner.
The racks are labelled with the name of the tools. The staffs are advised to place the tools in
the appropriate place after completing their work.
Shine / Sweep: The shed is cleaned twice a day by a cleaner and the staffs are trained to keep
the tools and other equipments clean after using them. The uniform which the staffs are
wearing should be clean, as some customers expect cleanliness.
Standardize: Whenever a car arrives for any kind of service, a standard set of
processes should be followed apart from the service requested by the customer, as a part of customer relationship management.

The standardised service may as follows:
· An employee will fill in the details of the customer and the problem as soon as the
customer enters
· The problem is analysed and the due date is informed to the customer
· After servicing the vehicle as per the customer’s requirement, the following are done
for free of cost:

Air checking
Brake adjustment
When to refill the oil
Wheel alloying
Clean the exterior

Sustain / Self discipline: We ensure these processes are at place by asking the staffs to mark the check list immediately after each process. We have never missed any opportunity which helps to gain competitive advantage over others in the market.

In retail shop Greeting makes a difference in sales. Whenever the customer enters the shop they gets bored to listening to the same greet as “Hello, can I help you?". So the standard answer by the customer is always "No thank you, I'm just looking." So it’s the time for the sales people to wake up and greet in a different way that customers gets attracted. Greeting should be in such a way that it makes customers comfortable in choosing their choice. They should not get disturbed by the way we greet. So the greet may be like “"Good afternoon and welcome to our store. We appreciate you taking the time to visit with us." This will certainly make them feel appreciated.
Most retail sales people follow the client around the store. This should not be done and some space should be given for the customers. After greeting, asking them to call for help if needed and moving away from them will make them feel comfort. Introducing our name and asking them how they should be addresses encourages more personal sales approach with the customer. This gains their trust and their loyalty towards the shop increases.
The sales get also affected by various other factors. Research has been done to study the impact of perceived salesperson listening behavior on relationship outcomes. In that study a scale for salesperson listening behaviour was developed and investigated the impact of customers' perceptions of salespeople's listening behavior on trust, satisfaction, and anticipation of future interaction. The result states that listening to the customers is a higher order construct composed of sensing, evaluating and responding. When customers perceive a high level of listening their trust towards the shop gets increased.
Research says that the mood of the sales person has an effect on the uniformity of customer service. The study also reveals that department-store salespeople provide a more uniform level of customer service than discount-store salespeople.

Research is not re-searching. It is search for something that is not known previously. The presence of something may be or may not. ie.) the result is unknown. Researchers have given various definitions which are unknown to me so, finding the correct definition may be a research for me but I can’t say that to the global world that I have made a research in finding the definition of research. But if I end up in finding a new definition of research which is unknown to the world I may proudly say to the world that I have made a research. All of us know that Most to the great findings were found accidentally. So why can’t we make accidents happen??

You may agree that accident is something that happens without prior planning. Is that everything that happens without prior planning is accidental?

Cant find the solution for this.. but my research on this will continue till I get the solution. Even if there is no solution i will say this as research as i im searching for somthing that is not known now.

Dont be attentive in class

Either bunk the class or dream in class, don't listen the class. I was taught wrongly by one of my professor during my class. so only i am helping you as far as i can by posting this. Its upto you to take it or not.

In one of my class today, my professor while conducting the class said "Do things right and do it in the first time" yes it is good to follow it. But he didn't stopped with that he continued the lecture by saying "It can be achieved only through experience". How does the experience comes in the first time? and how can right things can be done in the first time?

Even if right thing is done at the first time, then how can it be said it is through experience?
Cant it be achieved without experience?

Everything is possible. So it is possible to finish the course without attending the class. Even if you attend the class, don't listen. Surprisingly i listen the class for few minutes and got shocked by these kind of information. Thank god!!! i escaped from all those wrong information.

Happy life

I used to wonder, why life is full of sorrows. But now i realise that i am wrong in wondering. Even there is happiness in sorrows. Yes, its deep inside.

When you are filled with sorrows, just think of these three questions.
Why we are sad?
What incident made us to feel sad?
Which person made us feel so?
You will end with happiness atlast because its nothing but the affection they have on you. Will we be sad if someone is more affection on us? Obviously no. Then why should we be sad if it is by our dear ones?

Sometimes the sadness is because someone we dont like. May be the so called enemies. If we dont like them, then why should we feel for the actions made by them? Just ignore and be happy.
Life is not filled with sorrows and happiness. It is only happiness!!!!!!!!

Why a new product is launched?

The answer is the customers. Every thing depends only on the customers. So as to attract the customer and to retain the customer, new product is launched. Or else the competitor will capture the market and attract the customers. Always there will be a cold war in the market. Yes always.. They always wait for the competitors to sleep. Once the competitors sleep, they will have the show. But they should satisfy the customers's need. However the product may be produced, What ever the technology may be used, But if it does not meet the expectation of the customer the product is failed in the market. We have seen a lot of examples, even the large players faces lot of difficulties. To meet the customers demand, the company should know the expectation of the customer. So, the company should put itself and view as a customer so that the new product will be a successful.

Interview - Not a good process to recruit

Interviews are being conducted to recruit workers for organisation. But it is not actually a good selection process for that. The actual ability of a person cant be determined in the minutes of meeting. More over it is filtered by the percentage one scores. The percentage depends on how one studies and not on the knowledge. A knowledged person may not study for hours and his percentage will be low but a less knowledged person who studies for hours may score good percentage. The later may be rewarded for his hardwork but the knowledged one should not be suppressed. The usual selection process consisits of a written Exam, a group discussion, a technical round, a psycometric test and finally a HR round. The written exam may contain both technical and apptitude questions. The Group discussion may be replaced by JAM (Just a minute). The technical questions will be from the core subjects. The psycometric test is to check the attitude and the HR round is to ensure weather the person suits the organisation to achieve the long term goal.Most of the recruiters think all these process can select the best canditates for the organisation but is a misbelief.

You all know that i used to post my views because of my own intrest but this post is not such a thing. This post is beacuse of the fans wish!!! You may think i am lying but its a fact that when i was sitting busy in the break time of HR class, one of the fan of this blog came and asked me to write something about the pleasent city "Nagercoil". And he/she added that he/she would be more happy if my blog contains useful things :) So i took the decision to continue my work with this blog.Lets come to the topic Nagercoil freshly from the next paragraph rather that talking about something else.

I am proud to write something what i know about Nagercoil as i belong to the NON. Wat is NON??? yes surely this question may arise in your mind. It is nothing but the "Nation of Nagercoil". I see Nagercoil as a Nation. What is not there in Nagercoil???
Why cant i see it as a Nation??? It is the capital of Kanyakumari district. Cape is the only place where 3 seas meet each other. It is not possible to see one sea at a time but in cape we see 3 seas at a time. Nature dances in the form of waves in cape. Someone may think i am exagerating, but actually i am speaking a little about the beauty beacuse i dont know much words to explain all those beauty. Do you think only the waves dances?? No, the trees along the road side supports my word dance!!!

Falls - Unknown falls :( The falls in Kazhikesam is not as famous as Kuthalam but no way it is less beauty than that. It is hidden inside the mountains. Oh.. forgot to tell about the mountains. Both western ghats and eastern ghats kiss each other in nagercoil and the only region in India which enjoys both the monsoon is nagercoil. From the mountain there orginates the river called "pazhayar". It gives water through out the year makes nagercoil evergreen:)

Feeling ashame??? You may thing what for? Am i rite? If i tell the reason you will surely be ashamed of being in India. Every year lakhs of foreigners visit cape and enjoy the beauty of nature but you being in India dont find time to visit cape? But you may think of visiting places like US, UK, Swiz, Australia, etc. Isn't?

Hurry up!!! Enjoy the nature. Where ever you are.. Spend as much time as possible to visit nagercoil. But dont plan for a single day to visit here. Actually as i mentioned earlier i havent said even one percent about Nagercoil. It is much more. Visit and enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!

What is strategy?
As everyone thinks, strategy is not actually a plan. It's a long term plan. Everyone has their own strategy. Without strategy, no one can succeed. Success not only depends on the strategy but with a proper strategy there is an assurance of success.
If we come across the life history of successful organisation or successful person, most of them would have followed a strategy. Strategy does not comes in a single day. It should be planned by analysing the external environment and the internal capacity. If the internal capacity does not matches/ it cannot meet out requirements the strategy fails. In this situation the strategy should be changed accordingly. Usually the strategy should be made properly. A good strategy which gives success to one particular organisation need not work for some other organisation. Itdoesnt mean that strategy should not be copied, but before copying it must be properly evaluated and then it should be adapted.

Do you think i am in happy mood to watch and enjoy the dance by students of my class!!!

Really its boring to see but they know how tough it is to dance..
They really practice a lot to perform well.. but for me to hear the same song for so many times its really difficult. If you hear the line that was repeated you will also get irritated..Yahoo yahooo this was the line that was repeated again and again. Already yahoo is the competitor of Google. Even though they know that this is a blog of google they sang as yahoo.. As being a customer of google i got tensed and planning to sing a song in the next competition as
"google google".. All the best google.. keep rocking by having a great post like this. Especially from me :)

Dont you think how great i have corelated the dance with our blog.. wow great.. but the wow competition that was held in my college was not great to me.. i think this correlation is enough today:)

Audit is done only by external agency, no internal audit is done over there

Conclusion:

The firm does not have a separate treasurer and a controller. The combined activities of both the designations are carried out by the accountant there. Since the firm is a small one, all the financial activities are done by the single accountant. As the firm is a developing one and not an established firm, it is necessary that majority of the decisions that involve money could be taken only by the person who is capable of raising it. Hence the accountant of REACH gives the suggestions but the final decisions are taken by the CEO who is the fund raiser there.

The other main reason is that the firm being a developing one, it cannot afford to have a finance department separately wherein they can have a treasurer and controller designation. So activities which involves recording, registering and entry makings are done by the accountant along with the few functions of the treasurer and controller, where as decisions and the functions that involves a sufficiently large amount is carried out by the top management, being the CEO here.

How are you. I miss you so much. From the day i met you ie) the day when i signed up i am not visiting you properly. I know you are angry on me. But you also very well know that i was too busy with my work. Dont laugh blog really i was busy. Okay i accept i am not busy but i dont have time to spend with you. You may think that both are same. No blog, in my room there is no net connection. I have booked a connection in BSNL two months back but no response from them. Whenever i come to college with my laptop i will have some presentation or some other work. so only i could not visit you properly. I dont know how to ask you to forgive me. because i have to ask thousands of sorry. I am not going to ask sorry anyway, i hope you will understand my difficulty. So please do respond to this. On the pitch where Warne failed and Murali stood out: If you are asking me to compare the two bowlers, I think one should not compare them. Both are really the best. Their departments are different – one is leg-spinner and the other is an off-spinner. I think Muralitharan bowled a great line and length. I am not comparing him with Warne. I think since the target was low and I am assuming that the opposition thought to play him through. But I think the credit should also go to Ashwin and Raina and they both bowled a good line and because of that the pressure kept on mounting. Eventually when a wicket falls it is never easy for a new batsman to come in and go after the bowler. So, it kept on mounting and from six runs per over to 15 or 16 runs per over. It became really tough and I believe that was one of the reasons. Maybe Kings XI Punjab had to win the match and they thought that 'Murali is the main bowler and we should play him through'. But I think it was an off day for them and their plan didn’t work. I am quite happy to be on the winning side.

On Suresh Raina's bowling: I think if you look at the composition of our side then you will realise that we are playing with two spinners which is more than sufficient. Having Suresh Raina is a great asset for us. Whatever opportunity he has got, he has grabbed it with both hands. Raina has bowled line and length in the pressure games where the ball was not turning. I think Raina gives you another option if I am playing with four fast bowlers and two spinners then I know that I have Raina who can bowl full quota of four overs.

On his bowlers: Manpreet Gony performed well. If you see the improvement in him from his first game, it is drastic. We gave a chance to Thilan Thushara after few games and he also bowled really well. It was good to see our bowlers performing well. I think we always had a decent bowling line-up but down on confidence. The issue about Rajnikanth entering politics has been an unabated debate for about a decade and half. The superstar, as he is commonly referred to in the state of Tamil Nadu, has been at the top of the heap for over two and a half decades now.
Like MGR, Rajni, has used films remarkably well to send out one political message after another. His fans (and there are millions of them) have been kept guessing for a while. It all started in 1992 with the release of Annamalai and then with Muthu in 1995. Both were huge successes at the box - office. Muthu, where he plays the servant to the zamindaar, was released when Rajnikanth's tiff with the then Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa was said to be at its peak. Some movies manage to be incredibly inferior in some areas and yet manage to deliver wonderfully in others. The action movie ‘Death Race’ is a prime example where the plot and script are laughable but where the action sequences are thrilling. At times it looks too much like a movie which can be enjoyed only by a very niche audience.

Jensen Ames is an ex-con framed for murder and sent to a prison where the prisoners are forced to compete in a high-speed car race with barely any rules.

The movie is set in 2012 and it does get a few things right. The economy has collapsed in 2012 and sinister corporations have taken over. The background of the economic collapse eerily echoes the present financial crisis. But pretty much everything else in the movie is other worldly.

The races are at times spectacularly thrilling, but also verge on becoming monotonous. The action scenes are staged well and it would have to be so since the action is this movie’s saving grace.

The script is laughable. Statham is not a good actor by any standard and his dialogue is mercifully monosyllabic. The dialogue serves just to intimate us on the proceedings and no attempt is made to flesh out a character.

There are two very fine actors in the form of Joan Allen and Ian McShane. Allen is an Oscar nominated actress and seems to have a habit of appearing in action movies after having shone in the Bourne series. She has very little to do here and tries to bring a touch of class and sophistication to this at times drab movie.

Ian McShane impressed in the HBO series ‘Deadwood’ but has not managed to snag the role he deserves. Statham does the requisite grunting, wincing, scowling and gives the intense gaze of a typical action character.

Since this is an action movie, we can literally tick away the necessary ingredients. There is the clichÃ© eye-candy in the form of Natalie Martinez. There is a hint of background characterisation for her that seems sadly added on for the mere pleasure of being looked at.

At times the movie is unnecessarily violent and even that seems strategically placed to satiate the testosterone laden male teen. The gore is mostly momentary and thankfully the action emphasis is on explosions during the car race.

For those looking for a not too demanding viewing with just enough action to be thrilled for a hour and a half, ‘Death Race’ is a good bet.

Five crew members of Stolt Valor arrive in India

It was a big homecoming for crew members of the Japanese-owned chemical tanker MV Stolt Valor on Monday.

Five members of the ship have arrived so far, and the rest of the Indian crew including the captain of the ship, Prabhat Goyal will arrive later on Monday.

"I am happy to be back," said Ishidore Fernandes, Stolt Valor crew member.

MV Stolt Valor, with 22 crew members including 18 Indians, was hijacked by a group of Somali pirates off the Yemen coast on September 16, while it was bound for Mumbai from the Suez Canal.

The crew members had a harrowing time, with no hope of a release for quite some time after they were held hostage. The ship was released on November 16 after the crew were kept hostage for two months by the pirates.

"We were always on gun point, 24 hours. We had to take permission from them for everything," said a Stolt Valor crew member.

Not surprisingly, the families of the crew who have returned were ecstatic.

"We are very happy, you can understand that. I want to thank the Almighty and the Government of India," said Murad Mohd Borundkar, father of crew member Naved.

AMD's 45nm Phenom II Chips Overclocked To 6+GHz

Hold the phone on handing the CPU performance crown to Intel's new Core i7 processors just yet -- the chip giant may yet have a fight on its hands in the coming months.

Advanced Micro Devices demoed its upcoming 45-nanometer "Deneb" desktop chips -- now confirmed as Phenom II -- for reviewers in Austin, Texas, on Thursday, and reports are in that AMD overclockers were able to achieve clock speeds north of 6 GHz on the second-generation quad-core devices.

How far north of 6 GHz? AMD spokesman John Taylor confirmed the basics of stories published by PC Perspective's Josh Walrath and Legit Review's Nathan Kirsch Thursday, but held back on outright endorsing the numbers originally cited in those stories.

Respecting AMD's wishes, we'll just point out that PC Perspective's story now says, "The Phenom II reached WELL over 5.x GHz (read: REALLY over)." And another source gives a more specific number -- 6.3GHz, though again, that could not be confirmed by AMD.

AMD, headquartered in Sunnyvale, Calif., reached such overclocking heights using liquid nitrogen to cool the processor that was taken to "WELL over 5.x GHz." PC Perspective reports that the Phenom II parts can also hit 4 GHz on air cooling and 5 GHz on dry ice cooling. The top Phenom II chip, due out sometime in the first quarter of 2009, will reportedly list as 3.0 GHz off the shelf.

Intel's top Core i7 processor, which incorporates the Santa Clara, Calif.-based chip giant's new Nehalem micro-architecture, is listed as a 3.2 GHz part. Overclockers have reportedly managed to scale it to 4.5 GHz on air cooling alone. Some enthusiasts have also taken Core i7s to 5.7GHz on liquid nitrogen, while the CRN Test Center conducted some "modest overclocking" on the Core i7-965 Extreme Edition to add some extra oomph to an already astonishing Geekbench2 score for that processor on an Intel "SmackOver" board.

AMD's Taylor said the Phenom II demos conducted Thursday were done on what the chip maker is calling its "Dragon" platform -- a quad-core Phenom II processor, ATI Radeon 4800 series discrete graphics and an AMD 790 chipset. Taylor said the processors shown were not hand-picked engineering parts, though he added, "But clearly they weren't duds."

Clock speeds for AMD's upcoming 45nm desktop chips appear to be mapping to the same sort of advantages the recently released 45nm Opterons code-named Shanghai have displayed over the previous generation of 65nm Barcelona server chips. Taylor said the extra level of "headroom" towards dramatic overclocking capacities on the Phenom II parts is due to a combination of architectural improvements over the original Phenoms first released late in 2007.

"It's about high-speed path optimizations, how it does memory pre-fetch, how it does branch predictions, the larger cache. So you've got higher clock frequency per TDP, but at the same thermals," he said.

"The result has been modest improvements on instruction per clock but much better clock frequency. It'll be the biggest step in processor improvement between generations that AMD has ever made, with the exception of leading the industry from single to dual-core."

So who said the clockspeed battles are over? Over the past few years, we've heard quite a lot about how it's not as important on multicore chips. But now that both Intel and AMD are really hitting their stride on successive generations of quad-core architectures, the new chips are coming out of the gate pretty darn fast.

Intel is hitting first with what it calls the "fastest processor on the planet" (with a lot of shared enthusiasm from reviewers, we should add) and the new Core i7 parts are, without a doubt, a major step-up in performance over the older Core 2 Quad chips. But AMD might just be about to drop some surprisingly powerful processors on the market as well.

"Phenom II is a big step up, too, but you don't have to open your wallet as wide to make that step up," Taylor said.

Recall the 'Kantaben' episode in Karan Johar's KAL HO NAA HO. The episode is alive even today, in skits, on stage, amongst friends. That was a mere trailer. Picture abhi baaki hain. DOSTANA takes 'Kantaben' episode to another level altogether.

DOSTANA is no BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN. It's not a serious take on homosexuality either. On the contrary, it's a madcap comedy where two straight men pretend to be gays. Although DOSTANA is a mainstream commercial film, it dares to push the envelope in its own way. It brings homosexuality out of the closet, gives it respect and dignity and doesn't treat gays as 'abnormal'.

Love triangle in Hindi movies often centre around two guys falling in love with the same girl, or two girls choosing to love the same guy. But DOSTANA is a first. It's the first Hindi film that, at the core, is a rectangle [three men loving the same woman], but two of them, guys in this case, pretend to be a couple.

Sure, DOSTANA has ample shock-value since what has been witnessed in its promos is barely a fraction of what you'd get to watch in the movie. But more than shock-value, the film offers loads of fun-n-laughter and dollops of entertainment in those 14 reels.

A word of appreciation! It requires courage to fund a project like DOSTANA. Karan Johar, the producer, deserves to be lauded for treading the untrodden path. It requires courage and conviction to swim against the tide in your directorial debut. Tarun Mansukhani, the debutante, deserves a few brownie points extra for not thinking straight. It requires courage for two A-list actors to go all out and risk their professional [and personal] lives. Abhishek and John deserve an ovation for not only agreeing to play these characters, but also infusing life in them, without making a mockery of the gay community.

To cut a long story short, DOSTANA is not to be missed. Dharma Productions, the late Yash Johar and Karan Johar's film production outfit, has produced several significant films in the past. Add DOSTANA to the list!

Miami is the setting for DOSTANA. When Sameer [Abhishek Bachchan] and Kunal [John Abraham] are turned down for an apartment because the landlady [Sushmita Mukherjee] doesn't want two strapping young men to corrupt her young sexy niece Neha [Priyanka Chopra], they hatch a plan: they pretend to be gay to secure the apartment.

Over a period of time, Sameer, Kunal and Neha become buddies. When Neha's boss Abhimanyu [Bobby Deol] enters the fray as the third contender for her affections, it gets even hotter…

DOSTANA shocks you all the while and that is its biggest USP. Don't expect stereotypical situations or characters all through this film. Watch Abhishek cook up a romantic story between John and him in Venice. Watch Boman Irani's interaction with Abhishek and John. Watch Kirron Kher's dramatic entry at this point. Howlarious scenes all, they're sure to bring the house down.

If the first hour is laced with crackling chemistry between the guys and terrific humour, things get serious towards the second half since there's one more person vying for Priyanka's attention -- Bobby Deol. There's humour in this hour too, but the focus is mainly on who'd get Priyanka in the end.

The length is a slight deterrent in the second half and the editor could've easily cut the unwanted flab to make the narration in shape. But the film works as a package! Also, the film has a shocking end and people are bound to raise eyebrows. It would have its share of advocates and adversaries. A debatable culmination, for sure!

Director Tarun Mansukhani is here to stay. He deserves kudos for choosing an offbeat story, then making a foolproof screenplay and most importantly, executing it with flourish. DOSTANA merges form and content beautifully, since the film is, technically speaking, sound. Ayananka Bose's cinematography is top notch. The locales of Miami are a feast for your eyes. Costumes and styling are very upmarket.

Vishal-Shekhar's music goes well with the mood of the film. It's young, peppy and energetic. 'Desi Girl' and 'Maa Da Laadla Bigad Gaya' are foot-tapping compositions. The latter is bound to be a rage!

Both Abhishek and John are fantabulous! Abhishek pulls out all the stops and delivers one of the finest performances of his career. His comic timing is superb! John will make guys and girls drool over his amazing physique. But, most importantly, people will sit up and notice how fine an actor John is. Both Abhishek and John compliment each other so well. In fact, had the chemistry and camaraderie been missing, the story would've failed to look convincing. Two thumbs up for these two guys!

Priyanka looks stunning and delivers a first-rate performance. First FASHION, now DOSTANA, Priyanka is back with a bang. Bobby Deol lends the required class to his role. No other actor would've looked so real while underplaying this character.

Boman Irani is sure to bring the house down, the auditorium is sure to resonate with laughter in his sequences. Kirron Kher is superb as the Punjabi mom. Watch her throw a fit when she learns that her son [Abhishek] is gay and much later, when she accepts John as family. She's remarkable! Sushmita Mukherjee, as Priyanka's aunt, is fantastic. She's so, so funny. Shilpa Shetty sizzles in the opening track.

On the whole, DOSTANA is a winner all the way. In terms of content, it might just prove to be a trendsetter. In terms of business, the film holds tremendous appeal for the youth. The 16 to 25 age-group would go into raptures and bonkers over this film. Its business at multiplexes mainly will be amazing. In Overseas too, the film should emerge amongst the biggest draws of 2008. DOSTANA rocks... have a blast!

Indian probe touches down on Moon- Chandrayaan 1

The probe, painted with the Indian flag, touched down at 2034 (1504 GMT), the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) said.

It will perform various experiments, including measuring the composition of the Moon's atmosphere.

The mission is regarded as a major step for India as it seeks to keep pace with other space-faring nations in Asia.

The BBC's Sanjoy Majumder in Delhi says the success of the mission has been hailed in India where many see it as another sign of the country's emergence as a global power.

Earlier this week Chandrayaan 1 began orbiting the Moon some three weeks after it was launched from a space centre in southern India.

The dropping of the Moon Impact Probe (MIP), weighing about 30kg, concludes the first phase of the mission.

"During its descent from Chandrayaan 1, an onboard video camera transmitted lunar pictures to the ISRO command centre," spokesman S Satish said, AFP news agency reports.

In the days to come, the probe will measure the composition of the Moon's ultra-tenuous atmosphere, or exosphere.

For the next two years, Chandrayaan 1 will map a three-dimensional atlas of the Moon and also check for the presence of water-ice with the help of instruments built by India and other countries including the US, Britain and Germany.

The chairman of India's space programme, Madhavan Nair, has described the mission as 95% successful so far and has announced a second lunar mission to be launched by 2012.

"We have now successfully put our national flag on the lunar surface," he told a news conference.

Story of Quantum of Solace:

Sure, the title isn't exactly thrilling. In fact, I sat through the end credits wondering if I'd see, "James Bond will be back in A MODICUM OF ALLEVIATION."

But "Quantum of Solace" is such a smart and brutal Bond movie that it kicks the "Bourne" movies — which had previously made Bond irrelevant — in the crotch. With a steel-toed boot.

One of the last of Ian Fleming's titles that hadn't been used in the previous 21 movies, it's from a short story that consists of a man-to-man conversation between Bond and an older guy at a dinner party. This is not a movie about a dinner party.

Finally, for the first time in Bond's 46-year movie history, a quantum of continuity. The story opens right after the events of "Casino Royale" with a hair-raising car chase and no foreplay. Bond has taken hostage Mr. White (Jesper Christensen), whom he'd shot at the end of the previous film. The agent's smoldering with rage, and he wants answers about the death of the only woman he'd ever loved.

But before you can say "extraordinary rendition," a mole in MI6 shoots up the joint and sparks an exhausting, parkour-esque chase. He was from an evil organization — not SPECTRE, not SMERSH, but Quantum (no explanation) — that's got people everywhere. With M (Judi Dench) questioning Bond's focus — "If you could avoid killing every possible lead, it would be deeply appreciated," she says dryly — he's pulled out of action and "goes rogue."

With MI6 and the CIA both on his tail, Bond inadvertently hooks up with the only person as pissed off as he is: Camille (Olga Kurylenko), who's sleeping with slimy business mogul Greene (Mathieu Amalric) to get revenge of her own against a sadistic South American general (Joaquín Cosio) who did some remarkably impolite things to her and her family.

Some people who claim to be Bond fans might complain about the absence of a few familiar things: cheesy quips, gadgets (not to mention "Q"), getting it on with the heroine. And Daniel Craig isn't a charming Bond. He's grim and tough, and that's refreshing. The filmmakers appear to be interested in character, which, along with continuity, was never previously a strong point in the series.

They're playing it smart. "Casino Royale" was a relaunch that rescued Bond from being an outdated joke of a cliché. Instead of simply recasting him like the next Dr. Who and getting on with business-as-usual, they showed how Bond started becoming the character we all know.

There's a ruefulness behind his quips, a self-destructive urge behind his hedonism and a pain behind his skirt-chasing that were forgotten as the movies became emptier and sillier copies of each other. Craig's second outing as a hurt and ruthless Bond is another step along the way, and he'll be even closer to Bond's familiar groove in the next one.

There's also a debate running through the story — largely with Bond's CIA ally Felix Leiter (Jeffrey Wright) — about the necessity of doing business with bad guys. Again, refreshing: nicely relevant but not hammered home.

Oscar-winner Paul Haggis ("Crash") collaborated on the screenplay with his "Casino Royale" co-writers, Neal Purvis and Robert Wade. It doesn't take a superspy to attribute the quality to Haggis, since Purvis and Wade were also responsible for the awful "Die Another Day" and "The World Is Not Enough."

Known for "Monster's Ball" and "Finding Neverland," Marc Forster seems like a counterintuitive choice to direct an action spectacle. But any doubts I might have had flew out the window and splattered onto the hood of a parked car during an early, hellacious brawl between Bond and a lead he follows to Haiti.

Complaints about the movie all come with qualifications. Amalric ("The Diving Bell and the Butterfly") isn't a particularly colorful villain. He vibes Roman Polanski circa "Chinatown," and I kept imagining him calling Bond "kittycat." But then the time's past for cartoonish Bond villains like Ernst Stavro Blofeld and his actual kitty cat.

Amalric's plot — something to do with real estate and controlling water — isn't so gripping, either. But it's a lot less preposterous than irradiating the gold at Fort Knox (see "Goldfinger").

And Bond is just a little too indestructible. A plane battle and subsequent free fall are too Indiana Jones for the rest of the movie's no-nonsense grittiness. But at least they still show him cut and bleeding. Hey, Roger Moore never even got his hair messed up.

It’s no wonder rapper Snoop Dogg and actor Sylvester Stallone have flocked to Mumbai for cameo rolls in Bollywood’s sleepless cinema factory. The production values are skyrocketing—what with a hop to Capri and a skip to the Swiss Alps. Add to the blank-check budget a fan base well stocked and willing to get their paws on the supplemental paraphernalia beyond the picture, and you’ve got yourself a venerable industry. Bachna Ae Haseeno will not disappoint those who are craving for some loop in their fruit. A playboy yanks the love strings completely from two buxom babes before getting a bad dose of his own medicine when trying to court a third. Despite the sap spewing from this maple, it will delight sweet-tooth auds near and far; even compelling them to fork-up a couple bucks for the soundtrack.
It takes only a few seconds into the titles to begin the first choreographed music spectacular. Our main man Raj (Ranbir Kapoor), a glorified video game creator, sports a glittery fedora while doing a bronco stampede dance with a harem of female backups dressed in fishnet stockings writhing close with extra pelvic thrusts. Their attire changes with the beat from no-mercy getups a la ’80s neon to Las Vegas disco. At one point, Raj is breakdancing, and you think you’re watching a recreation of Ozone in Breakin’. Then the number ends, and it’s into the story we go. Raj stands before a postcard view along the Italian Riviera and narrates in almost a whisper: “I am a killer.” It takes a while before you realize that the word killer is not going to unreel a story about cloak-and-dagger tactics but lady-killing. It’s present time, and our hushed narrator in his white Elvis duds and aviators is a killer because he woos big-chested women with hearts of gold and leaves them dying at the stake for even a last glance.
There’s Mahi (Minissha Lamba), a youth of privilege who’s Euro-tripping with her family on a train. At 18, Raj is doing the same and chasing tail to boot with his three mates. Ultimately, the two make eyes, and after Mahi misses a train, the two are going by moped through the Swiss Alps to catch-up with her family in Zurich. Love blossoms on a bench, and the two lock lips. The downside is Mahi’s already fixed to be married to another. Raj still pursues her by stealing some chocolate truffles and writing a poem on toilet paper. Such the romantic! The montage sequence layered over a catchy tune where the pair are playing in a soccer match and racing in the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race all impress the fact that this guy travels far and fast despite his penniless status. Soon enough, the Romeo blows it by bragging lies about their affair and is caught in the act.
No matter. He’s got a chance to crumble another heart years later when he meets his next-door neighbor, this stunner named Radhika (Bipasha Basu), and puts on the charm. Soon enough, the two are intersecting at the mailbox and in the elevator, borrowing sugar for coffee. After Raj’s career gets a leg up, he must move to Sydney, Australia, he’s in a world of hurt to determine how to break it easy to his live-in girlfriend. He tries to do so through conversation, and she instead wants to get married. Cue the toilet flushing and plate-crashing sound effects. (These corny effects are repeated whenever things go south.) All attempts to wiggle out of the relationship backfire. Wedding bells hover and clearly Raj is not the marrying type. In Sydney, the video-game biz is flourishing, but Raj’s romance is floundering. Takes a wisecracking taxi driver, who happens to be a knockout named Gayatri (Deepika Padukone) to trip up the Indian Don Juan. When all his moves are proved tired, Raj goes for the gusto and tries to win over Gayatri.
The take on an old story of love thrice gotten and lost almost as many times is well and good. Raj goes back to appease the victims he ran over with his love cruiser without even glancing the rearview. Now fallen from grace, his conscience has kicked in and he gives a hoot. Raj promises at one point, “I never want to hurt anybody again.” Seeing him grovel and become a love guru so fast is a hard sell. But this is Bollywood, mind you. Fantasy flows through the water supply.
It’s nice to see a lead whose not injecting human growth hormone between takes. His frame is that of a Joe who sips a beer from time to time instead of Creatine. Then again, Raj is just your average video-game techie boasting voluptuous babes pining for his love and affection. The musical acts during montages are eclectic for this fare—a gondola carries lovers through canals, a deserted beach for two lovers, hip clubs where the revealing outfits the girls wear get the Hollywood treatment. It’s all quite flashy and tight.
In the case of this picture, it’s crucial to look at it with a measuring instrument taking into account the humorous elements and lovestruck plot. Yes, the thing can seem a bit hokey. The lead hunk is trying awfully hard to be this man of mystery. In some ways, he pulls it off. Could be his slick dance moves or the notion that there is good chemistry amongst the cast. You allow the extended music-video soap opera to carry on with its bouncy-ball plot without grabbing at it to stay still. It’s a well-balanced sauce with enough frills and not enough cheese to overwhelm the palette. And despite the long length (over two and a half hours) the film moves.
Director Siddharth Anand had a vision for this film and really took patient paces to mold together a witty and jubilant bit of cinema. The musical tracks keep the head bobbing, and the story has a universal theme that’s easy to grasp no matter how fast the subtitles move. It’s as if time stops, and you just get to play along with this ensemble of beautiful people (some perhaps got a little help from the science of silicon) who are trying to get to reach euphoria. The scenario of boy meets girl (in this case three girls) and finds something special, albeit through plying for scruples in each case, is old but happens to get a new coat in this film. Does the guy have this much sway with gals in real life? You have to doubt that. But at least on the big screen, the guy can have it all and smooch every girl he wants, have the cushy job, and however many times he falls, he still finds romance in the end. A film that can deliver this kind of escape deserves praise. And it will get it.

the wrong with federrer

some may say federer is right.. but he's wrong..

This may confuse u.. but no other go.. have to accept this.. bcoz this is the truth!!!!!!

Federrer, one of the greatest(probably the greatest) in men's singles tennis history is having a bad patch in his career .. He has'nt won a major in this year and this is his last chance to grab a major for this year.. Though he havent won the first 3 majors (Australian open, french open and wimledon) for the year he has made to australian open semi finals and finals of the remaining two.. Because of these losses and also because of the loss in olympics he lost the first spot in the world rankings which he maintained for about four and a half years.. Though he lost the olympic singles, some how he managed to win the doubles title with his country men.. That boosted him up .. No one expected to win the olympic doubles, where as every one expected a singles gold.. Now he's on the road to US open finals .. This is the toughest period he is experiencing in his career.. Though he has lost the no.1 spot to Nadal the tennis lovers and players consider him as no.1.. The welcome he had from the people during the opening ceremony of the Us open reveals the fact ..

The coolest and the most talented player tennis has ever seen is experiencing the toughest situation.. Though he is bit aged(27 yrs) than his competetors he has some great technicques with which he can rule the tennis world for atleast 5 years.. He just needs a single major title to gain his confidence back.. Hope he does it in this event.. Each and every player suffers a bad patch in his career .. this is his bad time .. Do u doubt a player who had not lost a single match in 5 wimbledon events continuously and not even a single match in 4 Us open events????? Sure he does regain his no.1 spot in few days ..

Kanyakumari takes its name from the Kumari Amman or Kanyakumari Temple, situated in the town, on the sea-shore, the very confluence of the three water-bodies - Bay of Bengal, Indian Ocean and the Arabian Sea. According to local lore, Kanya Devi, an avatar of Parvati, was to marry Shiva, but as he failed to show up on his wedding day, the rice and other grains meant for the wedding feast remained uncooked and remain unused thereafter. As the local lore goes, the uncooked grains turned into stones as time went by. Some believe that the small stones which look like rice on the shore today, are indeed grains of the wedding that was never solemnized. Kanya Devi is now considered a virgin goddess who blesses pilgrims and tourists who flock the town.

According to another local myth, Lord Hanuman dropped a piece of earth as he was carrying a mountain with his life-saving herb, Mrita Sanjivani from the Himalayas to Lanka (Sri Lanka) during the Rama-Ravana war. This chunk of earth is called Marunthuvazh Malai, which is literally translated to "hills where medicine is found".This is said to be the reason for the abundance of unique native medicinal plants in the area. Marunthuvazh Malai is located near Swamithope about 7 km from Kanyakumari town on the Kanyakumari-Nagercoil highway.

The sage Agasthya, who was himself an expert in medicinal herbs, is believed to have lived around this site in ancient days. The reason why, some believe, so many medicinal herbs are to be found on these hills near Kanyakumari. There is even a village by the name Agastheeswaram close to the town, named after the sage. Today, there is a small Ashram on the middle of the Maruthuvazh Malai hill, which tourists visit (after a short trek from the base of the hill), both to visit the Ashram and also to take a glimpse of the sea near Kanyakumari a few kilometres away, and the greenery below.

Kanyakumari has been a great centre for art and religion for centuries. It was also an area of great trade and commerce. It was ruled by the Cholas, the Cheras, the Pandyas and the Nayaks. The architectural beauty of the temples in the area are the works of these rulers. Later Kanyakumari became part of the Venad kingdom with its capital at Padmanabhapuram. The king of Venad, Anizham Thirunal Marthanda Varma, established Travancore by extending his domain further north up to Azhva, during his reign from 1729 to 1758. By this, the present Kanyakumari District came to be known as Southern Travancore. In 1741, Maharaja Marthanda Varma defeated the Dutch East India Company at the famous Battle of Colachel.

Kanyakumari was under the rule of the Kings of Travancore under the overall suzerainty of the British until 1947, when India became independent. Travancore joined the independent Indian Union in 1947. The reign of the Travancore royals came to an end.

Under the Travancore state, the town, and the modern administrative district that bears its name, Kanyakumari District, gained both socially and economically.

In 1949, Kanyakumari became part of the reconstituted Travancore-Cochin State. Around this time, a popular agitation for the amalgamation of Kanyakumari District with Tamil Nadu by the Tamil-speaking majority of the district intensified, under the leadership of Kavimani Desigavinayagam Pillai Eventually, in 1956, Kanyakumari was integrated with Tamil Nadu (then known as Madras State) as per the language-based reorganisation of States.

Christianity arrived in South India around AD 52 through St. Thomas, one of the twelve Apostles of Christ. However, European missionaries, who arrived in the 16th century, propagated Christianity in the area. St. Francis Xavier (April 7, 1506 – December 2, 1552) was the pioneer in preaching Christianity in the present day Kanyakumari district. Islam is believed to have entered the southern part of India through Kanyakumari during the early part of the eighth century AD through traders and missionaries who came through sea-routes. Islam, Christianity and Jainism have also contributed to the architectural wealth and literary heritage of the region.

Sun rise and sun set is clearly visible in Kanyakumari.. Lots and lots of people from various places of India as well as foreign countries come here to see the sun rise and sun set..
There is a statue of Thiruvalluvar in the midst of the the sea which is 133 feet high.. Thiruvalluvar is one of the famous tamil writers who wrote Thirukural..It consists of 1330 kurals which tells about each and every situation a person exhibits in his entire life.. Boating service is provided from the shore to that rock in the sea..
Near the thiruvalluvar statue in the midst of the sea there is a vivekanandar mani mandapam where there are some spots for meditation.. Its a place where we can rest our mind and feel the silence of the world.. Another important place is the Gandhi mandapam.. Its speciality is that, on Oct 2nd the sun rays fall in a particular space inside the mani mandapam.. Other than that lots and lots of decorative items from sea are available there.. Some amazing waterfalls and beaches are there near by.. Palaces owned by Kings are maintained by the government and lots of rare sculptures and statues are found.. If you get a chance to visit India, ne'er miss to visit Kanyakumari..
