Today our hero is coming from Mysore. (born 12 July 1965 in Mangalore, Karnataka state) is an Indian cricketer who never quite lived up to the expectations at the highest level, averaging 37.14 in his 37 Tests between 1987/88 and 1996/97, as opposed to an overall first-class average of 55.

 His best performances were against Pakistan, against whom he had a Test average of 94 and two Test centuries. He made his double-century against Pakistan in Lahore.His first notable performance at the international level came in the 1989 series against the West Indies in the West Indies. He made a century against a powerful, menacing fast bowling attack and gave glimpses of his immense potential, which continued in the series against Pakistan in 1989. He scored a century and double century in that series and was instrumental in India drawing the series 0-0 against a bowling attack that consisted of Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Imran Khan and leg spinner Abdul Qadir. This series cemented his position in the Indian side, but was unable to again reach these heights.

He failed to make an impact on the 1991-92 away series in Australia after struggling against the Australian bowlers on fast, bouncy pitches. His next international century came after a 3 year gap against Test debutants Zimbabwe in 1992. He occupied the crease for several hours and saved India from an embarrassing defeat against a team which had just been awarded Test status. The Indian cricket team then travelled to South Africa for the South Africans' first Test series after the end of apartheid. India lost the Test series and performed poorly in the one day series in which he failed to produce any big scores.

When the team for the 1993 England series was announced, he was dropped. India won this series convincingly and most Indian batsmen helped themselves to big scores on Indian conditions which they preferred. From this point onwards, Our hero was in and out of the side for the next 2-3 years, never assured of a settled existence. The emergence of young middle-order batsmen such as Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly effectively ended our hero's chances of getting back into the team. After the selectors overlooked him for the 1997 series against the West Indies, he bowed out of international cricket.

The hero of our story is  from Mumbai.  He entered the world n the year 1972 and the cricket world in 1993. He is one of the best friend of God of cricket. He entered into the indian cricket team as a test player. His debut was against England in the year 1993 at their home. Even though he didnt contribute Our great team won and fortunately with that luck he had the chance of getting a permanent place in our team.

And by this now we have the chance of making fun about him. He usually shoots against the sky when he catches any ball even a foot ball. It excite the whole audience. He has missed a lot of catches than he caught. He is a great all- rounder too. He is a left handed bats man and an right arm bowler. this made to call him as an all-rounder. dont think that he plays well.

Some times he may be talked by every one,not because of runs he scored, but because of runs he have missed.He played under the captaincy of Mohmmad Azarudin in 1996 world cup. In the semi-finals against sri-lanka as he was the only striker in the crease, the match was called off. he cried like a baby (aunnnn ). And he went out of the team itself. Again he was given a chance but he couldnt make out of it.

Later in the year, he broke his own record as well as set the current world record for the highest score in the second innings in ODI matches as he scored 183* against Sri Lanka. Dhoni's success in the limited overs format secured him a place in the test team and coincidentally he made his maiden test century in his fifth Test match, when he scored 148 against Pakistan. Consistent performances in ODI cricket through the end of the 2005/06 season saw Dhoni ranked as the No. 1 batsman in the ICC ODI ratings briefly.

Dhoni's form dipped through 2006 as India lost matches at the ICC Champions trophy, DLF Cup, away bilateral series against West Indies and South Africa. A return to form in the home series against West Indies and SriLanka in early 2007 proved to be an inaccurate indicator of Dhoni's form as India crashed out of the first round in the 2007 Cricket World Cup. Dhoni was out for duck in both India's losses. After the World Cup, Dhoni won the Man of the series award in the bilateral ODI tournament against Bangladesh. For the tour of England, Dhoni was named the ODI team vice-captain.

A batter, Dhoni has shown the maturity to restrain his aggressive nature and play a responsible innings when the situation requires.[3] Apart from traditional shots, Dhoni has two very unorthodox but effective cricket strokes. Since his entry into the Indian cricket team, Dhoni's aggressive batting style, success on the field, personality, and long hair have made him one of the most marketable cricketers in India

Indians may have lost out on the nominations for some of the coveted ICC awards, but Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh and Ishant Sharma were among the nominees in various categories of the awards to be presented in Dubai on Wednesday. 

As per the list of nominees announced by ICC CEO Haroon Lorgat here on Monday, Dhoni is among the front-runners for the ODI Player-of-the-Year award. Sachin Tendulkar is also in contention for the honours.

Dhoni has also been nominated in the newly introduced Twenty20 International Performance of the Year category. Other nominees in this category are Yuvraj Singh, Chris Gayle and Brett Lee. 

Ishant has been nominated along with Stuart Broad, Ajantha Mendis and Morne Morkel in the Emerging Player of the Year category. Shivnaraine Chanderpaul, Mahela Jayawardene and Dale Steyn have been nominated in two main categories — Cricketer of the Year and Test Player of the Year. Clive Lloyd, Greg Chappell, Shaun Pollock, Sidath Wettimuny and Atahar Ali Khan form the panel of jury. Performances from August 9, 2007 to August 12, 2008 were considered before the names were shortlisted.
